Graduation

Matthew graduated today! Yes, he graduated for the 2nd time in less than 1 year.  His first graduation was at exactly 2 months old when he left the NICU and then today he leaves Hope Orthotics behind and is helmet free. He received a t-shirt that says "I am well rounded because of Hope Orthotics." He was a trooper for the 4 1/2 months that he wore his Super Dave helmet.
Matthew was fitted with the helmet because he had plagiocephaly, which is characterized by an asymmetrical distortion (flattening of one side) of the skull. This is common in multiples and in preemies. Luckily, there is a solution in the form of a little Starband helmet. Matthew went for monthly checkups to follow his progress. Today he went for the final scan and was discharged.
Over the 4 1/2 months, Matthew wore the helmet for 23 hours a day. David painted and taped it with the letters SM for "Super Matt." Many people would comment on how cool his helmet was and kids would say that he was a football player. When we would remove the helmet for his 1 hour break, Matthew would rub his head like "yay, I am free!" and now he finally is free!! Now we can kiss his head any time we want to!!

1st Mother's Day

We were in Louisiana for Mother's Day weekend. David helped Mimi and Dagger move from their house on Saturday since they sold it to Uncle Stuart. Matthew, Emily and I stayed at Uncle Frankie and Nanny Nat's and played with Carter. We also went to Reese's 3rd and Isaac's 2nd birthday party. Both babies love to swing!

HEB

Matthew and Emily went on their first real grocery shopping outing actually sitting in the cart. Usually grocery shopping is one person (me) at the store and one person (David) at home with the kids. We decided to try this out last night since David had to work late and we were out of nearly everything! And by everything I mean the stuff for grown ups to eat. The baby food items along with diapers and wipes are delivered to our doorstep via UPS through Amazon. It was successful and they seemed to have fun! They were curious about the stuff in the cart, the people in the aisles and the cart itself!

Here is a pic of the baby section of the pantry!

1st Teeth

After what seemed like months, months and months of drool, Emily has 2 bottom teeth and Matthew has one bottom tooth. With a little help from teething tablets, frozen teethers and occasional Tylenol, they made their appearance within the last 2 weeks. Now if I could get them to open their mouths to take a pic, I will post it!

Addendum: As of today, May 10th, Matthew has 2 bottom teeth!!
