Matthew is on the Mend

On December 30th, Matthew had surgery to repair bi-lateral inguinal hernias that he had since birth (common in preemies) and was also circumcised at Texas Children's Hospital. He was all smiles before and a little tired and fussy after but by day 2 post surgery, he was a happy boy again.

Before surgery, hanging out with Mom and Dad in the waiting room...

After surgery, resting...

Day after Surgery.... Silly Boy!

Mimi and Dagger came to stay with Emily so she wouldn't have to hang out at the hospital and we weren't sure if Matthew would be there overnight.

Babies' First Christmas

We went to Louisiana and spent time with our families for Christmas. Many of them were meeting Matthew and Emily for the first time and it was a great feeling to see how excited they all were.
The trip to Louisiana was great. We made 2 pit stops for diaper changes and one of those times we had bottles, puppy pee break and coffee. We were loaded down on the way there and twice as bad on the way back. I (over)packed to make sure that we had everything that a baby might need (like there are no stores in La).... They got some great presents... Puzzles, clothes, bath toys, books, car DVD player and highchairs; just to name a few....
Here are a few of the people that we got to see and meet:

Cousins, Lily and Thomas

Great Grandparents, Ma Goldie and Pa Ferd

Maw Dee

Uncle Mark

Mary Margaret and Aunt Rachel

Nanny Natalie and cousin Reese

Cousins Hayes, Tate, Eli and Carter

and Soon to be cousin-in-law, Tuoi Thi, who will be marrying my cousin Spencer!! Yay!

"Don't make me go Cajun on you!"

Kendra aka Honey came to visit this weekend and she brought us each a little sussie. Bibs that say "Don't make me go Cajun on you" for the babies and a ring for me! They seem to love presents (they must get that from me!)

We put on our UL - Lafayette Ragin Cajuns attire to watch the New Orleans Bowl. We made nachos and had some beers and bottles of milk! Emily also had some apples ( as seen on her bib). It was a nail biter but they WON!

Today, Matthew and Emily went for their monthly RSV shots, flu shots and 6 month well check and Matthew has decided he will play a little game of catch up. He weighed 13 lbs 2.4 oz, 24.88 in and Emily weighs 13 lbs 4.8oz, 26 in. The pediatrician has given them the go ahead to make the trip to Louisiana so the Friday before Christmas we will be loading up and heading East!!

More Rollin....

Matthew rolled over from tummy to back today during tummy time with Ann Marie (our neighbor and sitter) just before I was going to start my work. So we both cheered and he was startled and made a face as if he was saying "What's the big deal?"
Emily has also rolled from back to tummy once and continues to roll from tummy to back during tummy time.

5 month Update

5 months already and Matthew weighs 11 lbs 1.8 oz and Emily weighs 11 lbs 13.2 oz

We have been enjoying walks on the trail and can finally ride in our big stroller!

Bumbo chairs are fun too!!!

We are ready to go on our first trip to Houston... Mommy and Daddy went out to eat at Vietopia and we had our bottles. Emily cried nearly the whole way to Houston but Matthew did not make one single peep for the entire trip!

We love to play in our exersaucer but we have to share and use a blanket for some extra stuffing!

Rollin over

Emily rolled over for the first time today. She went from tummy to back and it startled her a bit then she laughed.
